Warning: LONG POST! My family may enjoy this the most, too bad only a handful of them look at my blog!
We had such a great time at my family reunion in central Utah, Joe's Valley area. It was perfect weather and our little camper was in heaven! Remy was so fun to camp with. She would play hard and then for nap or bedtime, I'd ask her if she wanted to get 'piggy & blanket'. She'd nod yes and we'd get ready for a nap or bed, read/sing for 5 min, put her in her pack-n-play, and she'd snuggle in and I'd walk out and she didn't even make a peep. She would just fall right to sleep. What 17 month old does that?? We are so lucky to have such a sweetheart. I will inform you though---she doesn't really do that anymore. She now cries for a min or two when I put her down for a nap or bed. But still, she's pretty good and I'm not complaining.
As you will see in these pictures, her cousins adore her, and she reciprocates that adoration.
This is the fort that Todd helped the kids build. It had several rooms and they had their 'food storage' (pine cones) and a fire ready to go.
My dad and Gaye made 35 of these awesome stick horses. They turned out so awesome and the kids absolutely loved them.
Wow. Look at that dirty face...
Elizabeth and Remy ready for a wagon ride. Apparently Remy just woke up from a nap. That's some crazy hair.
My sister and her husband brought out the sharpies and rubbing alcohol to make tie-dye shirts. I thought they turned out so good and the kids loved it. I later did this for an activity with my YW.
Remy and I went for a walk to see the pond.
We went through the daisy meadow and she loved picking the flowers.
JULY 4th Parade, Olsen Family style. My dad and Gaye, who had their own stick horses, led all the grandkids on their stick horses around in the parade.
Elder Oaks is my cousin. (Same great-grandpa) Here he is carrying one of the family flags.
And this is Miss Joe's Valley being carried by some scrawny strapping young men.
We also got to do our cliff/rock jumping into Joe's Valley Reservoir. The water was very cold. I couldn't convince Todd it wasn't that bad, because it was pretty cold once you hit the water. This is Alex.
And this is me. Not sure why I thought that pose would be totally awesome, but there you have it.
And a lovely swan dive by Alex.
My entire family, minus a few missionaries and Virginianites. Hey Zach--we can still see you!!! You didn't hide very well behind your mom!
The grandkids with Grandma and Grandpa:
This year we changed things up a bit. Instead of the usual square dancing, we did some line dancing. I think it was a hit.
Even my dad got into it.
Remy could watch horses forever. She loves them. She calls them all 'Jack' because of our nieghbor's horse named Jack.
And of course, what's camping without some yummy fresh popcorn???
I love these sparklers shots. I love how fire on the end of a stick can bring so much joy.
